Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky, warns of the aggressor state’s intentions following several new bellicose statements from Russian officials. Zelensky says that Russia wants to make 2006 a “year of war”, warning that it could even lead to aggression against another European state.
“Today we received new signals from Moscow that it is preparing next year as a year of war. And these signals are not just for us. It is important for our partners to see them. And it is important not only for them to see them, but also to react, especially partners from the United States of America, who often say that Russia would seem to want to end the war. But completely different rhetoric is heard from Russia, other signals – including official orders for their army. We need to see this state of mind of Russia and react to it.
When they have exactly this state of mind, they will also undermine diplomacy, trying, through various diplomatic phrases or by pressuring certain points in documents, to mask their desire to destroy Ukraine, to destroy Ukrainians, the desire to legitimize Russia’s theft of our land. And further – other countries in Europe, which someone in Russia might someday call their “historical territories”.
