    Tougher alcohol restrictions in Krasnoiarsk: reduced hours and total bans on key days

    The Krasnoyarsk Territory Government has decided to tighten the rules for the sale of alcohol in the region. Authorities announced that, starting March 1, alcoholic beverages can only be purchased between 10:00 and 21:00 (currently, the interval is 8:00–23:00).

    The restrictions will target stores located in residential blocks and on adjacent lands, as well as units located on the ground floor. At the same time, public food establishments will be required to obtain a special permit for the sale of alcohol on summer terraces. The permits will be issued by the regional ministry of industry and commerce.

    On July 1 (International Children’s Day) and September 1 (Knowledge Day), the sale of alcohol will be completely banned at all retail points in the region.

    The Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Mikhail Kotyukov, stated that the measures were requested by “colleagues from law enforcement structures” and health system specialists. The stated goal is to reduce alcohol consumption in the region, as well as “protecting the lives and health of citizens”.

    At the beginning of winter, Kotyukov had already banned the sale of alcohol within a 100-meter radius around official festive events on December 31, May 1–4, and 8–9. According to data from Rosstat, in 2025 the average alcohol consumption in the Krasnoyarsk Territory was nearly 8.4 liters of ethanol per inhabitant.
