US President, Donald Trump, stated that he is “very disappointed” in Russian leader Vladimir Putin, just a few days before the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Washington, DPA reported on Wednesday.
“I am very disappointed, because Vladimir and I had a very good relationship. We probably still do. I don’t know why he continues this war,” Donald Trump stated on Tuesday evening at a press conference at the White House after meeting with the President of Argentina, Javier Miley.
“And I think that makes him look very bad. He could end it. He could end it quickly,” added the US president, according to Agerpres.
Putin got involved in a war that was supposed to end “in a week,” but has been dragging on for nearly four years, the American president stated.
“He lost about 1.5 million soldiers, and as for the number of injured, the number of people without arms, the number of people without legs, it’s a terrible war. It’s the worst loss of human life since World War II,” Trump declared, quoted by The Moscow Times.
Russia’s economy is on the brink of collapse, as demonstrated by the long lines at gas stations, Trump continued. At the same time, he praised Ukraine for its efforts to defend itself against Russia.
Moreover, the White House leader did not rule out the possibility of supplying Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine. He had previously stated that he wanted to discuss this issue with Russia.
