A MiG-29 fighter jet of the Ukrainian Air Forces intercepted a Russian Banderol-type cruise missile, using an R-60 air-to-air missile, a Soviet model that entered service more than five decades ago. The operation took place at an extremely low altitude, and the moment of interception was captured on video.

The images were published by the Telegram channel “Sonyashnik“, associated with the Ukrainian military aviation. According to the information provided by the cited source, the mission was carried out by a pilot aboard a MiG-29MU1, a modernized version of the Soviet fighter plane, notes Dialog

The recording captures the moment when the Ukrainian aircraft launches the missile to destroy the target. The very low altitude at which the interception took place significantly reduced the time the pilot had available to make a decision.

“Just a few seconds to decide: to retreat or to do everything possible to protect your loved ones?!,” conveyed the Telegram channel that published the images.
