The President of Kazakhstan urged Russian leader Vladimir Putin on Saturday to end the war in Ukraine. The meeting between the two heads of state took place in the Russian city of Omsk.

A few hours earlier, Ukrainian drones struck an oil refinery in Siberia, reports realitatea.md. Kassym Jomart Tokaev urged his counterpart to freeze the conflict and return to the Istanbul formula for negotiations.

“This is not an interstate conflict. We are not talking about some kind of civil war. We have always respected the Ukrainian people, their culture, their language, and we believe that the nature of this conflict is not fully clear to many, including us,” said Tokaev.

Putin promised to inform Tokaev about the situation on the front shortly. Subsequently, the Kremlin’s spokesperson, Dmitri Peskov, told the press that freezing the war is impossible “due to Kiev’s position” and until Moscow achieves its objectives.
