The clarification comes after the Ukrainian president requested a 30-day extension to the ceasefire to truly give “a chance” for peace.When asked on Sunday by Russian journalists if the ceasefire will be extended, Dmitri Peskov said that it expires at midnight tomorrow.”There are no new orders,” said Dmitri Peskov.Unilateral 30-hour ceasefireOn Saturday, in a surprise announcement, Vladimir Putin declared a unilateral 30-hour ceasefire in Ukraine, starting at 6pm until Monday, April 21 at midnight (Moscow time).”For humanitarian considerations, today, from 6 pm [Moscow time] until 12 am [Moscow time], from Sunday to Monday, the Russian side declares an Easter ceasefire. All military actions are ordered to be stopped during this period,” said Vladimir Putin.The announcement of the Russian president came during a press conference where the Chief of the General Staff Valeri Gerasimov announced that Russia had recaptured the second-to-last village in the Kursk region, still under the control of the Ukrainian army, thus completing the almost complete recapture of this territory which was the target of a Ukrainian offensive in the summer of 2024.Moreover, the ceasefire announced by Putin came shortly after the US announced that they were ready to cease their mediation efforts in the war between Russia and Ukraine if any of the parties “impede the process,” reports The Kyiv Independent.Details, HERE.”
