Weapons manufacturers warn that NATO should set objectives for defense industries specific to war situations.
Micael Johansson, CEO of the Swedish group Saab, said at an event in Brussels that the alliance should create new capability objectives regarding “minimum industrial capacity requirements” in case of war, according to Euractiv.
Last week, German Lieutenant General Alexander Sollfrank, responsible for the country’s joint operations command, stated that Russia could attack its NATO member neighbors at any time.
The high-ranking executive of Saab stated that he wants NATO to think about “how to manage the security of supply” with defense equipment and not just tell governments what to buy.
NATO currently sets capability objectives for its members, listing the type of equipment they should acquire to execute the military alliance’s defense plans.
