The Republic of Moldova does not intend to close its embassy in Moscow. President Maia Sandu stated at the Security Forum, organized on Thursday in Chisinau, that the diplomatic mission plays an important role for our people in the Russian Federation.

“The Embassy in Moscow has some tasks that are more related to our citizens who are there. There are citizens who still need this support. For the moment, the decision is to keep things as they are. If other things happen, if circumstances change, then we will review the decisions and we will communicate. For the moment, nothing changes,” the president conveyed.

Tensions between Chisinau and Moscow have escalated against the backdrop of increasingly frequent incidents caused by Russian drones and missiles in the Republic of Moldova. On October 3, five flying devices, three missiles and two drones, flew over the Republic of Moldova, and fragments of these were found in four districts, writes tvrmoldova.md. The incidents caused fires and material damage.

Russian Ambassador Oleg Ozerov was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and received a protest note.
