Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz discussed on Wednesday the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU, during their meeting in Berlin.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Romanian Prime Minister stated, in a conference <\/a>held jointly with Friedrich Merz<\/a>, that “for Romania, the Republic of Moldova is a strategic priority”<\/i>, and “the stability of Chisinau and its European path matter for the entire region”<\/i>.<\/p>\n

“The role of the European Union is essential, and opening the accession negotiations as soon as possible would be an important signal for citizens and for regional security”<\/i>, said Ilie Bolojan.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He emphasized that “if the negotiations for accession were to open, it would be the greatest gain for Moldova”<\/i> and thanked Mertz for his presence in Chisinau, at the rally during the electoral campaign for the 2025 parliamentary elections.<\/p>\n

In turn, Friedrich Merz stated: “We want to keep Moldova’s path to Europe open. We cannot disappoint the Moldovan citizens who desire the European path”<\/i>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
