Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister of the British government, says he wants the Kingdom to return to a “closer partnership” with the European Union, in the context of global volatility, and that this is in the national interest of his country, reports The Guardian<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

“We will continue to fight for the national interest of Great Britain and we will continue to do what is necessary to guide the country smoothly through this storm.<\/em>“<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, it is becoming increasingly clear that, as the world continues to go through this volatile period, our long-term national interest requires a closer partnership with our allies in Europe and with the European Union,”<\/em> Starmer declared.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

The British Liberal Democrats, the main pro-European party in London, welcomed the Prime Minister’s message and communicated to him that he should support their project for the United Kingdom to rejoin the EU Customs Union.<\/p>\n\n
