The Ukrainian company Fire Point, known for the Flamingo cruise missile, is working on a revolutionary air defense system that could significantly reduce the cost of intercepting ballistic missiles.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The project, carried out with the participation of European partners, aims to launch the system by the end of 2027.<\/p>\n\n

The co-founder and chief designer of Fire Point, Denis \u0218tilerman, told Reuters<\/a> that the main goal is to reduce the cost of intercepting a ballistic missile to under one million dollars, well below the current cost of American Patriot systems.<\/p>\n\n

“If we succeed, it would be a radical change in air defense solutions<\/em>,” emphasized \u0218tilerman.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

Fire Point awaits approval from the Ukrainian government<\/a> for a $760 million investment, representing 30% of the company, from a Middle Eastern conglomerate valued at $2.5 billion.<\/p>\n\n

The Ukrainian press has identified the investor as Edge Group, a defense company from the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n\n

This investment would represent the first step in building a space launch terminal<\/a> in the United Arab Emirates, with the aim of creating a constellation of European satellites in low orbit.<\/p>\n\n

\u0218tilerman explained that the favorable geographical position and climatic conditions allow for efficient space launches and mentioned the development of an internal solid propellant for satellites.<\/p>\n\n
