The United States’ war in Iran has so far cost 25 billion dollars, a high-ranking Pentagon official announced on Wednesday, thus providing the first official estimate of the military costs of the conflict, reports Reuters.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

With just six months before the midterm elections, in which Trump’s Republicans could face a tough battle to maintain their majority in the House of Representatives, the Democrats are doing well in opinion polls, trying to link the war in Iran, unpopular among Americans, with financial problems caused by the rising cost of living.<\/p>\n\n

Most of the money, spent on ammunition<\/h2>\n\n

Jules Hurst, who serves as the financial controller, stated in front of the legislators from the Armed Services Committee of the House of Representatives that most of the money was spent on ammunition.<\/p>\n\n

Hurst did not specify what this cost estimate includes and whether it took into account the projected prices for the reconstruction and repair of the infrastructure of Middle Eastern bases damaged so far during the conflict.<\/p>\n\n

Congressman Adam Smith, the leader of the Democrats in the House Armed Services Committee, responded to Hurst: “I’m glad you answered this question. Because we’ve been asking it for a long time and nobody has given us the figure.”<\/p>\n\n
