The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow, Maria Zaharova, launched an attack against the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu. After the head of state said that Russia represents a danger to Europe, the Kremlin official asked her if “she is in her right mind”.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The statements come in a context where the Republic of Moldova has repeatedly criticized Russia’s war against Ukraine, attacks on civilian infrastructure, and attempts to destabilize the internal situation in Chisinau, notes cotidianul.md.<\/a> In parallel, Moscow continues to promote narratives about an alleged “Romanian leadership” in the Republic of Moldova and constantly attacks the country’s European path.<\/p>\n\n

“We reach the situation in Moldova, which increasingly begins to resemble absolute destabilization, with long-term objectives set by the pro-Romanian leadership of this country, brought to power. But why pro-Romanian? It’s Romanian leadership – Sandu has a Romanian passport and Romanian citizenship. On May 15, Sandu named Russia, I quote, the aggressor and the most serious threat to the security of the continent today, probably also in the coming decades. (…) “<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I want to ask Maia Sandu if she is in her right mind. In the development of this subject, on May 18, our ambassador Oleg Borisovich Ozerov was even summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova, to whom a protest note was handed over, due to, as it was said there, the illegal flight on May 13 through the airspace of the republic of an unmanned aircraft,”<\/em> Zaharova said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

The spokesperson for Russian diplomacy suggested that the Moldovan authorities did not explicitly indicate the origin of the drone.<\/p>\n\n
