Images of C\u0103lin Georgescu’s visit to a supposed vegetable market in the commune of Izbiceni, Olt county, have gone viral on social networks. However, everything seems to have been staged by AUR, and the politician appears to have tried to imitate the communist leader Nicolae Ceau\u0219escu.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

In the images published by C\u0103lin Georgescu, he is greeted with flowers and applause by producers and craftsmen. However, the mayor of the commune, F\u0103nel B\u0103dici, told Antena 3 <\/a> that the scenes have nothing to do with reality, and the village’s vegetable market is generally located elsewhere.<\/p>\n\n

The official said that several of the participants would have been brought by AUR coaches from other counties, and an improvised market would have been set up for the visit.<\/p>\n\n

“What happened there is something that should make us all think. The fact that such a large-scale event is staged and, especially, the way it is staged, I think should give us all food for thought. Staged means with people coming from elsewhere.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Merchants beautifully displayed the tomatoes. In reality, because they are sold wholesale, you will never see the tomatoes nicely wiped and arranged. There are no prices. They are in bulk and sold wholesale. Prices are negotiated. What you saw there was a setup. There were AUR coaches, in reality, and other people who want to come every time to see Georgescu. Even after Georgescu’s visit, there would be someone coming by car or motorcycle asking where Calin Georgescu is. There were very, very many from elsewhere,”<\/em> the official recounted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

The mayor of Izbiceni subsequently posted a video on TikTok, in which he reported that between 200 and 300 people attended the event, most of them brought in from other localities. According to him, several locals were not even allowed to enter the square arranged for the visit of C\u0103lin Georgescu.<\/p>\n\n
