The car of a Russian lieutenant colonel was blown up in Petersburg on August 27, around 10:00 AM. The explosion took place in an area where the Ministry of Defense has been providing housing since 2010 for army employees holding medium and high-ranking positions.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The explosion occurred near a supermarket. The man died on the spot, and his wife was hospitalized, according to realitatea.md<\/a>, citing Russian media. Preliminarily, the victims of the explosion suffered severe leg injuries.<\/p>\n\n

The name of the military man has not been revealed yet, but the Russian press writes that he would be a military pilot. The local publication Fontanka<\/a> reported that the explosion would have been caused by an improvised explosive device.<\/p>\n\n

The Russian investigation committee has initiated a criminal case on the fact of the attack. Special services intervene at the scene and do not allow access to the area.<\/p>\n\n
