There, the far-right party Alternative for Germany (AfD) was on the verge of obtaining an absolute majority, reports <a href=\"https:\/\/agerpres.ro\/politic-extern\/2026\/09\/15\/cancelarul-german-isi-anuleaza-deplasarea-la-adunarea-generala-a-onu-de-la-new-york--1593862\">Agerpres<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This Sunday, voters from the East German state of Mecklenburg-Lower Pomerania and from the city-state of Berlin will go to the polls.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Estimates indicate a historical low level for the CDU in the East German state.
