Hackers who stole a record $6.3 billion from Binance used fake job interviews and a compromised internal artificial intelligence tool, the company has revealed, according to the BBC<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Initial findings released by the company, which operates the world\u2019s largest cryptocurrency trading platform, indicate that hackers gained access to its systems<\/a> through a \u201csophisticated, multi-stage campaign\u201d.<\/p>\n\n

The company said the attackers used a range of techniques, including downloading malicious software, to compromise Binance engineers\u2019 computers and gain control of tools that enabled them to transfer billions of dollars\u2019 worth of cryptocurrency from the company\u2019s wallet.<\/p>\n\n

Binance described the issue as a \u201cserious and highly sophisticated security incident\u201d and apologized, stating that \u201cthis should never have happened.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

In a post on X, Binance said that hackers had targeted its engineers using social engineering techniques.<\/p>\n\n
