“Combatting disinformation is essential for the Republic of Moldova, especially in the context of the parliamentary elections this fall. During a visit to Chisinau, Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, stated in an interview with Radio Moldova that the fight against propaganda is a complex process that requires both institutional support and citizen involvement, according to IPN.<\/p>\n

The European Union offers its member and partner countries specific tools for combating information manipulation. However, according to Kaja Kallas, the most important thing is education. Citizens must be able to distinguish between truth and lies.<\/p>\n

The use of digital methods in informational warfare makes the fight even more difficult, and media education becomes a key weapon.<\/p>\n

“It’s about media literacy, it’s about educating citizens to understand what is true information and what is false,” Kaja Kallas added.<\/p>\n

As for the parliamentary elections this fall, the Vice-President of the European Commission said that they are essential for the country’s future direction. The choice belongs to the citizens.<\/p>\n

Kaja Kallas also said that the expansion of the European Union has brought clear benefits to the countries that have joined, using Estonia as an example.<\/p>\n

“Four years before joining the European Union, the GDP per capita represented 5% of the EU average. By the time we joined, it was higher and now it represents 90% of the European average,” Kallas stated, adding that prosperity comes with the European path.<\/p>\n

This is Kaja Kallas’ first visit to the Republic of Moldova since taking office on December 1, 2024. The visit will conclude today with a press conference held together with President Maia Sandu.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
