The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Maria Zaharova, commented on the resignation of the Director-General of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Tim Davie, accusing him of fabricating materials about the Bucea massacre or Skripal’s poisoning.

“They have nowhere to place the stigma. The Bucea forgery was ‘edited’ in the same way, but in fact, the information was fabricated by the BBC itself. They also invented incredible stories about Russian supporters ahead of the Sochi Olympics, fake news about Syria, they exaggerated absurd information about Skripal and much more,” declared the minister for the Russian channel TASS.

Tim Davie resigned on November 9, amidst the scandal related to the falsification of US President Donald Trump’s speech, regarding the Capitol assault on January 6, 2021.

Also, the head of the corporation’s news department, Deborah Terness, resigned, reports TASS. According to information published on November 3 by The Daily Telegraph, in the Panorama program, broadcast by the BBC in October 2024, ahead of the US presidential elections, Trump’s speech was edited in such a way that it could be interpreted as him encouraging the occupation of the Congress building. In reality, he was talking about the need to express civic position by peaceful means. White House spokesperson, Caroline Levitt, previously accused the BBC of misinformation.

On January 6, 2021, Trump’s supporters, who was at that time the President of the USA, entered the American Congress building to prevent the confirmation of the results of the presidential elections in November 2020. The election victory was won by Democrat Joe Biden.

During the riots inside the building, the police shot a protester. Also, several unrelated deaths were reported, classified as medical emergencies. As a result of the incidents, a Capitol Police employee died.

Trump won the 2024 presidential elections and took over the position of President of the United States again from January 20, 2025.
