Volodimir Zelenski’s plane was followed by four military-type drones before landing, on Monday, at Dublin airport. The drones took off from a location in the northeast of the Irish capital and headed towards the flight path of the aircraft in which the Ukrainian president was traveling, violating a no-fly zone, notes The Independent.
Irish authorities are investigating the incident, but cannot yet comment on the most important details: where the drones came from and who controlled them. It seems that the drones missed their target, which was Zelenski’s plane, and veered towards the LÉ William Butler Yeats, a military ship deployed off the coast.
The ship was unable to deactivate the drones with the equipment it had at hand. The Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) had implemented a no-fly zone for drones above and around Dublin, during Zelenski’s visit.
