Daily natural gas deliveries from Gazprom to Europe via the TurkStream pipeline have decreased by 19.4% this month compared to the previous month, according to Reuters calculations.
Turkey is the only remaining transit route to Europe for Russian gas, after Ukraine decided not to extend the transit agreement for five years with Moscow when the agreement expired on January 1st.
These calculations, based on data provided by the European gas network of operators of gas transmission systems (ENTSOG), show that Russian gas exports via TurkStream have decreased to 45 million cubic meters per day this month, from 55.8 million cubic meters per day in February and 46.4 million cubic meters per day in March 2024, according to Agerpres.
The total amount of Russian gas to Europe via TurkStream was about 4.5 billion cubic meters (bcm) in the first three months of this year, compared to 7.7 bcm in the same period in 2024, according to Reuters calculations. Gazprom, which has not published monthly statistics since the beginning of 2023, did not respond to requests for comments.
In 2022, Russia delivered a total of approximately 63.8 bcm of gas to Europe through various routes, according to Gazprom data and Reuters calculations. Last year, volumes decreased by 55.6%, to 28.3 bcm. At the peak level in 2018-2019, annual flows to Europe were between 175 bcm and 180 bcm.
