The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has advised citizens not to disclose their personal information and opinions in open chats, groups, and forums, in order not to become targets of recruiters. According to explanations provided by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, individuals who lure people into illegal activities often seek users with an “active civic position”, analyzing their behavior in the online environment.

“Do not share your personal information and opinions in open chats, groups, or forums. Avoid disputes on provocative topics,” the ministry’s representatives emphasized.

The institution further recommended avoiding the publication of detailed data about the place of study, work or residence, limiting access to profiles on social networks, not providing answers to personal questions, and not accepting unknown people into the friends list.

In case of identifying signs of recruitment or pressure, citizens were advised to immediately contact the law enforcement agencies.

Previously, in the summer of 2025, the Ministry of Internal Affairs claimed that scammers had begun to involve children in criminal activities through computer games. And on January 25, the cybercrime unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region announced a new method of fraud, in which criminals send malicious files to victims, pretending to be the Gosuslugi platform.
