An attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on an oil base in Labinsk, Krasnodar region, on March 16, led to the almost complete destruction of the tank park, sources from the emergency services told the independent Russian press.

According to them, after the impact of four drones, a large-scale fire broke out at the site, covering an area of about 3,000 square meters. As a result of the fire, 18 of the 20 tanks — nine with gasoline and nine with diesel — as well as seven tank trucks burned down. No casualties were reported. The operation of the oil base is currently suspended.

Images of the fire were published by a Ukrainian monitoring channel. The photos show strong flames and dense columns of black smoke.

The head of the local administration, Vladimir Zaburaev, stated that the fire continues, but described the situation as “stable”. For its part, the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-being (Rospotrebnadzor) announced that there were no recorded exceedances of harmful substance concentrations in the air.

The oil base in Labinsk belongs to the company Yugnefteprodukt and is one of the largest in the region. It has a capacity of about 9,000 cubic meters and ensures fuel deliveries for the Krasnodar, Stavropol, Rostov and the Republic of Adygea regions.
