Romanian F-16 aircraft, stationed in Lithuania, intercepted a Russian aircraft flying without radio contact in Baltic airspace. The Russian plane was escorted until it left the area.
The Joint Forces Command announced on Wednesday that this was the first mission of the F-16 aircraft detachment deployed in Lithuania.
“The F-16 aircraft from the Carpathian Vipers detachment intercepted a IL-20 COOT A aircraft belonging to the Russian Federation that was flying in the international airspace of the Baltic States without radio contact with air traffic control. The Romanian aircraft identified and escorted the aircraft until it left the operation area“, the cited source conveyed.
