Russian soldier Aleksandr Lunin, who threatened a military revolt if he could not personally meet with Russian President, Vladimir Putin, has been detained for displaying extremist symbols, reports Agerpres. The man claimed that thousands of soldiers are imprisoned and tortured by their superiors on the front line and intended to report these abuses to the Kremlin leader.
The court in Rossoşanski, Voronej region, located on the border with Ukraine, has detained the soldier on charges of displaying extremist symbols, according to the Verstka publication.
The court refused to disclose the details of the case, which could subject it to a maximum penalty of 15 days in custody.
A Telegram channel associated with the Russian combatant announced on Saturday the arrest of Lunin, who was reportedly detained for 11 days, without providing further details.
Last week, a video went viral on Instagram in which an alleged soldier denounced illegalities committed within the Russian troops fighting in Ukraine.
