Vasile Tofan asserts that there were at least 17 drone incidents in August 2026, in the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, according to the Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatîi, their number has been around 70 since the beginning of the war.
Tofan stated at the government meeting that he is concerned about the denial of danger by certain political forces. In his opinion, these incidents are already perceived as routine.
“It becomes a norm, at the same time, it is extremely worrying. Even more worrying is the fact that there are political forces in our country that do not treat these serious incidents with the necessary seriousness. It is very important for those who do not take these matters seriously to change their rhetoric,” said Vasile Tofan.
The Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatîi, explained that due to evolving technologies, flying devices are not always observable by the military. The official also stated that authorities need to implement warning systems to prevent risks and did not rule out potential lethal cases in the future.
