Russia has suspended import operations through the Novorosiisk port on the Black Sea. The decision comes after Ukrainian drone attacks led all container carriers to abandon this destination.
Imports have been redirected to Saint Petersburg, reports IPN. The number of ships arriving in the northern capital of Russia has increased by up to 30%, starting from August. At that time, a cargo ship was sunk as a result of a drone attack.
Goods from Europe, the USA, China, India, and Iran arrive in Saint Petersburg. The latest Chinese companies operating through Novorosiisk adjusted their routes in October.
The port of Novorosiisk is the third largest in Russia. Last year, it received 1.1 million containers of goods.
