Wesley Clark, former Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces within NATO, warned on Monday that President Donald Trump might attempt to offer Russia sovereignty over Ukraine in exchange for cooperation with Russian President Vladimir Putin to resolve the conflict with Iran.

A high-ranking retired US general has stated that the White House leader could conclude a “very corrupt and dangerous” deal with his Kremlin counterpart, forcing Ukraine to capitulate, while Moscow will be rewarded for its aggression.

In an interview given to NewsNation television, General Wesley Clark said that Trump might seek Putin’s help to exert pressure on Tehran regarding its nuclear program, while Moscow could in return ask for concessions on Ukraine.

“If he manages to cause Ukraine’s failure, then he will hand it (the country) over to Putin”, said Clark, quoted by Kyiv Post.

“The President of the USA should be the leader of the free world”

Asked if he believes that Putin is offering to help Trump resolve the conflict with Iran in exchange for Ukraine, Clark responded: “Exactly. That’s exactly what it implies.”

Clark did not provide direct evidence of such an agreement, presenting the scenario as his own interpretation of recent actions and Trump’s diplomatic priorities.

“This is a very, very corrupt and dangerous agreement,” said Clark. “The President of the United States should be the leader of the free world. He must behave as such and not get too close to Putin,” he said.
