A man from the village of Pepeni, Sîngerei district, Republic of Moldova, found a drone in a field and hauled it into the village with a motor cultivator on Wednesday. The announcement was made on Facebook by the mayor of the locality, Oleg Cernei.
According to a police statement, the man who found it removed the engine and other parts together with another local. The law enforcement officers determined that it is a pilotless aircraft, a Gerbera type, used to mislead anti-aircraft defense.
“The drone was found at the border between the communes of Pepeni and Copăceni. A citizen thought it was a toy, put it in the trailer of a motor block and brought it to Pepeni”, says the mayor.
The mayor identified the person and informed the state institutions. According to a police statement, the villager discovered it on Saturday and decided to take it home, without notifying the authorities.
The police remind that such devices should not be touched or transported, and any discovery of this kind should be immediately reported by calling 112, keeping distance from the object until the arrival of the authorities.
