A treason case has been opened against Svetlana Golovatenko. The woman holds Russian citizenship, but has lived in Ukraine for a long time.

She flew to Moscow in April 2026 to renew her expired passport. The woman was born in the Arkhangelsk region and lived in Kiev for over 10 years, while her parents and brother remained in Russia.

In addition to wanting to renew her passport, the woman intended to register her residence in the Donetsk region of Ukraine, annexed by Russia, reports Meduza. The citizen was detained after landing at Vnukovo airport in Moscow.

Initially, she was accused of hooliganism, then 15 days of arrest were imposed. Upon the expiration of the mandate, the prosecutors brought charges of treason.

In June 2026, a court in Pskov convicted Mikhail Loshchinin, a Russian and Belgian citizen, who was traveling to Saint Petersburg to visit his sick father. The man will spend 16 years in prison, following the charge of treason. The main evidence in the case was correspondence with his former Ukrainian girlfriend, who had asked him for money in 2022.
