The head of Cuban diplomacy, Bruno Rodriguez, accused his American counterpart, Marco Rubio, on Wednesday of trying “to provoke a humanitarian crisis and promote a military intervention in Cuba”.
The message was conveyed after Rubio said that the Cuban administration “sponsors terrorism”. In response, Rodriguez stated that the head of American diplomacy “shows his true face”.
“His political motivation and his sole purpose are clear: to suffocate the Cuban economy by all possible means, to provoke a humanitarian crisis and to promote a military intervention in Cuba,” declared the Cuban official.
The Trump administration has increased pressure on Cuba following the operation in Venezuela, imposing an oil blockade that has exacerbated the economic and social crisis on the island, reports hotnews.ro. In addition, the President of the United States has repeatedly threatened the possibility of “taking control” over the country.
Present on Tuesday in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, the US Secretary of State accused Cuba of “continuing to host a significant number of espionage facilities for gathering information by China and Russia”.
