Andrei Cerezov, the director of a Russian drone manufacturer, was the target of an assassination attempt on the night of July 28 to 29, in the city of Tula. The company he leads is subject to sanctions imposed by the European Union.
According to Ukrainska Pravda, an unidentified attacker shot Cerezov several times in the stairwell of the apartment building where he lives.
The man’s wife stated that three gunshots were fired, after which the attacker fled. The businessman was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.
According to OSINT Varta, Cerezov leads the Russian company Air Transport Laboratory, specialized in the development and production of multirotor drones and their control systems. The company produces FPV drones, including the Ovod series, and supplies unmanned systems to educational and research institutions.
Recently, the company won two government contracts worth 29.7 million rubles (approximately 374,000 dollars) for the supply of 337 drone assembly kits and 17 control system sets intended for research at the State Technical University of Voronezh.
The company is targeted by sanctions imposed by the United States, the European Union, and Ukraine.
