Prime Minister Rumen Radev stated on Tuesday that Bulgaria has no place in the “Coalition of Will”, while his country’s honor guard marched alongside other European armed forces during the French National Day festivities, hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron, reports News.ro citing POLITICO.
In statements made to reporters in Paris, Radev – former president of Bulgaria, considered to have pro-Russian positions – said that Macron personally invited him to continue participating in the coalition, but he insisted that this is not “Bulgaria’s place”.
“We are not part of a coalition that insists on the continuation of financial and military assistance to Ukraine,” said Radev, while also welcoming the participation of the Bulgarian Honor Guard in the French National Day parade as being “a sign of the extremely good relations between Bulgaria and France.”
“I believe that the solution to this conflict does not lie in its prolongation through military means, but in a strong diplomatic mission,” asserted the Bulgarian leader, in a new display of his skepticism towards the military support given to Kiev.
