In an exclusive interview granted to journalist Ievhen Plinski (TSN), the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Sîrski, provided a detailed x-ray of the reality on the front. The Ukrainian general explained the strategies through which Kiev manages to balance the power against a numerically superior enemy, as well as how internal disinformation and false reports affect the Russian army’s chain of command.

Changing the mindset in Russian society

Sîrski emphasized that Ukraine’s initial attempts to show Russian citizens the truth about the invasion through informational campaigns have failed. Currently, Kiev’s strategy has shifted to concrete measures: economic pressure, isolation, and systematic attacks on the Russian oil sector.

“I believe this is the most efficient way. The war must reach their territory, so they can feel the realities of this conflict on their own skin. Only then will a part of Russian society understand that war is not just propaganda on television, but a serious crisis that affects their daily life, security, and basic supply,” declared Sîrski.

According to the general, this approach is already bearing fruit, with a significant increase in criticism of the Kremlin leadership and Vladimir Putin personally being noticeable.

How did Ukraine manage to equalize the forces

Comparing the conflict to a chess game started with a major piece disadvantage, Sîrski explained that Ukraine managed to balance the situation through courage, structural reforms, and rapid technological adaptation.

Among the key measures mentioned are: the reform of the armed forces for more efficient coordination on the ground and the expansion of unmanned systems units (drones), with some battalions already being transformed into regiments to substantially increase striking capacity.
