The Chief of the Naval Forces General Staff, Mihai Panait, announced on Wednesday that the drones discovered and destroyed in the Black Sea, in the Neptun Deep area, were Gerbera, of Russian origin. In addition, so far, 159 naval mines have been discovered and destroyed in the Black Sea basin.
“We received the respective information through the existing information system in Romania, within the inter-institutional framework, and we acted together with a capability of the Constanța Coast Guard, with a naval platform, with a ship, together with the EOD combat divers team from the Romanian Naval Forces,” said the head of the naval forces.
“We have a procedure that we implement in our daily, weekly routine, for such actions. It was carried out professionally. The distances to the exclusive economic zone, the Neptun Deep area, this area of the Neptun Alpha platform, where yesterday’s military action took place, are considerable: there are 80-90 nautical miles, 100 nautical miles, almost 200 kilometers”, declared the Chief of the Naval Forces Staff, Mihai Panait.
When asked what kind of drones they were, Mihai Panait answered: “They were Gerbera drones, Russian drones. Only these are known to be of Russian production.”
Mihai Panait further added that, up to now, 159 sea mines have been destroyed in the Black Sea basin.
