The authorities in Chisinau have proposed two infrastructure projects in Bender to Tiraspol, which could be financed from the future Convergence Fund. These include the opening of a family doctors and social assistance center, as well as the construction of a sewage treatment plant.

The information was made public by the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Valeriu Chiveri, during the “Teritoria Svobodî” program on Realitatea TV. According to the official, by the end of the year, over 500 million lei will be allocated to support the residents on the left bank of the Nistru.

According to Valeriu Chiveri, the projects were presented during the meeting in the “1+1” format with the representative of Tiraspol, Vitali Ignatiev, writes IPN. So far, no response has been received, states Chiveri, noting that time is needed to review the proposals.

The family and social assistance medical center is expected to be set up in a five-story building of the “Moldsilva” forestry household in Bender. According to the deputy prime minister, the building is largely unused, and some of the spaces are rented by the OSCE Mission. The government official maintains that the number of people turning to medical centers on the right bank is continuously increasing. According to him, only the medical center in Varnița serves over 15,000 inhabitants from the eastern districts, especially from Bender and Tiraspol, and 83,000 Moldovan citizens from the Transnistrian region have medical insurance.

The second project aims at the construction of a purification station in Bender. Chiveri mentioned that this is a costly project and proposed the identification of additional funding sources, together with partners.

By the end of the year, the constitutional authorities will allocate, in total, over 500 million lei to support the residents of the Transnistrian region. In the first half of 2026, the amount constituted 218 million lei.
