Vladimir Putin has appointed Igor Chaika, the son of the former Prosecutor General of Russia (2006–2020), Yuri Chaika, currently the plenipotentiary representative in the North Caucasus Federal District, as the head of Rossotrudnichestvo.

Ceaika Jr., who previously served as the deputy head of the agency, became widely known to the public following the anti-corruption investigation conducted in 2015 by Alexei Navalny and the Anti-Corruption Foundation. The film “Ceaika” claimed, among other things, that the businesses of the Prosecutor General’s sons – Igor and Artiom Ceaika – might be linked to the Tsapok gang, accused of mass crimes in the Krasnodar region.

Following the investigation, according to Navalny, information about the alleged properties of the Ceaika brothers would have been erased from the Russian real estate registry, and their names would have been replaced with codes in the extracts.

Through another decree, Putin dismissed Evgheni Primakov, the nephew of the former Prime Minister of Russia, who had been leading Rossotrudnicestvo since 2020.
