The German forensic police have identified the DNA of two men with Russian passports, suspected of bringing a drone with explosives to the Leipzig airport.
According to the German press, the first suspect, of Belarusian nationality but also holding a Russian passport, entered the Schengen area with an Italian tourist visa, issued in Minsk, writes hotnews.ro. The individual would have already been targeted by investigations for crimes committed in the Baltic states.
The second suspect, who holds a Latvian and a Russian passport, was born in Russia. He is believed to have acted as the logistic coordinator of the attack and instructor.
The man arrived in Germany at the end of July, at the airport in Berlin. He would have rented a car to travel to Leipzig, then to leave the country two days before the failed attack.
The two men were allegedly identified thanks to the DNA traces found by the police in the vicinity of the airport. These were detected on a drone, on a can filled with explosives, and on an antenna attached to a tree.
The European databases have allowed the establishment of information accumulated in Lithuania and Finland.
Germany has officially accused Russia of drone sabotage, carried out at Leipzig Airport. The flying devices, with attached explosives, were found near the airport station and next to a Ukrainian plane transporting military equipment.
Moscow denies the accusations and asserts that it would be about an anti-Russian campaign, caused by the decline in the rating of the authorities in Berlin.
