NATO confirms that the missile that crashed in Poland was of Russian origin. It penetrated the country’s airspace and crashed about 100 kilometers from the border.

Alliance representatives have reported that they activated, together with Poland, the air and ground defense systems, according to realitatea.md. The type of missile is yet to be determined.

“In response to a Russian missile, of a type still unknown, which penetrated Polish airspace and subsequently crashed on Polish territory – one of the numerous missiles launched by Russia over Ukraine during the night – NATO and Poland have activated their air and ground defense systems,” NATO officials have reported.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that “there is no reason to believe that Poland was the target.” The incident is still under investigation.
