President Donald Trump stated on Monday in an interview for Fox News that the United States will likely take control over the Strait of Hormuz and should receive compensation for ensuring this vital waterway.
\”We will maintain control over the strait and we will probably administer it. We will become the guardians of the strait,\” he said, using the term that is also in the name of the ideological army of the Islamic regime, the Guardians/ Guards of the Islamic Revolution (IRGC). \”Perhaps we will call ourselves ‘the guardian angel of the strait’\”, Trump said ironically. \”And we should be paid for it,\” he added in the phone interview given to the \”Fox + Friends\” show on Fox News, writes News.
\”We will guard it. We will be paid to guard it – with a large sum of money\”, insisted Trump. \”We will be compensated, because the other countries are very wealthy. They are on our side and they can’t expect us to do this for free\”, he added. \”We just want to be compensated for everything we do, because we put our people in danger\”, insisted Trump.
Trump has repeatedly asserted, since the beginning of the war between the USA and Israel against Iran, that American forces control the strait.
Nevertheless, Iran continued to exert pressure on its adversaries, threatening and, at times, attacking ships transiting the strait, which had a chain effect on the global economy.
