Donald Trump issued a proclamation on Monday announcing that the upcoming week in the USA is one of “anticommunism”, and in which he casually attacks his progressive opponents, reports AFP.

These proclamations, through which American presidents highlight for a day or a week themes they consider very important, have mainly a symbolic value, reports Agerpres. Denouncing “one of the most destructive ideologies in history”, the 79-year-old Republican writes in this text released by the White House: “Today, new voices repeat old lies, disguising them under expressions such as ‘social justice’ or ‘democratic socialism'”, a current claimed by Zohran Mamdani, recently elected mayor of New York. “Their message remains the same: give up your freedoms, trust in the power of the government and exchange the hope of ownership for the hollow comfort of surveillance”, Donald Trump further states.

The American president has already labeled Zohran Mamdani as a “communist” and declared in a speech, after the latter’s election as mayor, that Americans had to make “a choice between communism and common sense”. The future mayor of New York publicly defied him on the evening of his victory in the municipal elections, declaring: “Donald Trump, because I know you’re watching, well: ‘turn up the volume!'”.
