Several drones flew over Moldova’s airspace on Wednesday morning. One of them exploded above the locality of Hîrbovăț in the Anenii Noi district.

The first incident occurred around 05:40, the Police were notified about the fact that, a short distance above the municipality of Bender, a drone was spotted.

Subsequently, the aircraft fell in the outskirts of the village of Hîrbovăț, where it exploded. No casualties were reported.

“The experts from the Technical-Explosive Section of the Police are examining the site of the unmanned aircraft explosion.”

On the spot, in the outskirts of the village Hîrbovăț, Anenii Noi district, experts are conducting research in the area of a communications antenna, which belongs to a civilian operator.

Initially, the impact site and the location of the explosion were determined to be approximately 40 meters above the ground. On a section of about 12 meters of the antenna structure, traces characteristic of an explosion were detected, including metal deformations and signs of thermal effect.

On a radius of approximately 265 meters, several fragments of an unmanned flying apparatus were identified, including components of the structure, control system, power supply and propulsion. We specify that communication services were not affected,” the National Police informed.

The moment of the explosion was captured by surveillance cameras.

The President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, condemned the incident and stated that Moldova condemns Russia’s attacks on Ukraine, demanding an immediate end to the war and a fair peace.

“Russia must and will answer for its war crimes. Dear citizens, if you have heard specific drone noises or explosions nearby and feel an immediate risk, call 112 and take shelter in a safe space, inside your homes, and follow exclusively the information provided by the authorities,” the official conveyed.

Shortly after the Police announced about the explosion, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova reported about another drone that entered the country’s airspace. The second incident took place at 10:26.

“The national integrated monitoring system reports the overflight of the national airspace, today, September 30, at 10:26, by an unmanned aircraft, in Lunga, Dubasari. The airspace in the North and Central areas was closed,” the officials informed.

The information was subsequently reiterated by the Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatîi, who stated that the second drone is heading towards Soroca and is a jet one, with a speed of 400km/h.
