Two individuals have been detained in connection with the murder case of the suspect in the attempted assassination in Monaco. According to investigators, Anastasia Berezovskaia was killed shortly after returning to Ukraine from Monaco. Preliminary information suggests that she was shot.
According to a statement published on the Facebook page of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine, on July 7, the two detainees were officially informed that they are suspected of premeditated murder, committed following a prior agreement by a group of people, writes Focus.ua.
After the attack on the family of businessman Vadim Ermolaev in Monaco, local authorities have issued an international warrant for her, suspecting her involvement in this act.
After her return to Ukraine, the authorities determined who she had been in contact with and what routes she had followed.
Investigators have turned their attention to two men, a former law enforcement employee and a current employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate within the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
Investigators discovered that both men had repeatedly transferred money into the bank accounts and cryptocurrency wallets of Anastasia Berezovskaia. For this reason, they were initially investigated for possible involvement in the assassination attempt in Monaco.
During the investigation, one of the two detainees provided information about the crime and pointed out the second suspect, which allowed the investigators to find the victim’s body.
Prosecutors request the preventive arrest of both suspects, while authorities continue the investigation, in collaboration with Monaco, to identify possible instigators and other individuals involved in the attack on Ermolaev’s family.
The explosion occurred on Monday evening, June 29, in a residential building in Monaco, following the detonation of a parcel bomb. Prince Albert II condemned the attack, which he described as “a heinous crime”.
The businessman Vadim Ermolaev, his partner, Anna Nasobina, and their 13-year-old son were injured in a bomb attack at the entrance to their residence in Monaco. The explosive was detonated remotely, and Anna Nasobina suffered serious injuries and was admitted to intensive care.
