Vadim Krasnoselski addressed Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, stating that many Moldovans would like to obtain Russian citizenship, after Vladimir Putin simplified the procedures for obtaining documents for Transnistrians. In this context, the separatist leader suggested to the head of the Chisinau Executive what respect for citizens means in his view.

“I would like to warn the Prime Minister of Moldova not to insult the Transnistrian people. In general, people should not be offended. You may not understand this, but that’s how it is in Transnistria. Here, no one insults anyone, for any reason,” said Krasnoselski.

The authorities in Tiraspol announced on June 1 that about 36,000 people have lined up to obtain Russian documents, reports realitatea.md. The procedure for submitting the files began on May 25.

Dozens of cases are on the docket at the European Court of Human Rights, following convictions and abuses committed by the separatist authorities in Tiraspol.

Between 2004 and May 2026, the ECtHR examined 65 such cases, and the Russian Federation was found guilty in 46 of them, the Kremlin being obliged to pay damages of over 6 million euros.

Tiraspol consistently passes the buck for the armed conflict on the Dniester from 1992, the straining of relations, the economic issues in the region, and the pressures exerted on the inhabitants of the region. According to the regime on the left bank of the Dniester, the constitutional authorities would be to blame for these problems.
