German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated on Tuesday that he is increasingly concerned about the lack of a strategy from the USA and Israel to end the war against Iran, according to Politico.

“With each day of war, more and more questions arise. What concerns us most is that there clearly is no common plan to bring this war to a swift and convincing conclusion,” said Merz, speaking alongside Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš in Berlin. “We have no interest in an endless war,” the chancellor added.

Merz’s comments come as the USA and Israel continue to attack Iran, while Tehran has responded by striking Arab countries in the Gulf. The spiraling regional conflict is shaking global energy markets, raising concerns across Europe about the kind of inflationary spiral seen after Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
