From 2023, Russia assists Iran in developing advanced supersonic cruise missiles. The support is provided within a secret program, codenamed C430L.
According to an investigation published by the Financial Times, based on leaked Russian correspondence, travel information, and an analysis of military patents, the program continued even after the USA and Israel had initiated war with Iran.
According to journalists, the purpose of the project was to develop an engine that would allow cruise missiles to fly at speeds several times greater than that of sound, reports Meduza.
On the Russian side, the program was organized by Rosoboronexport, an institution that coordinated the project together with NPO Mashinostroyeniya. Top Kremlin experts were involved.
According to the FT, Iran has already managed to create the engine and test it, but there is no evidence that the missile that will use it is already in the military’s arsenal.
