Following the failure to regulate elections in the region, Nicolai Ormanji, the interim president of the Gagauz People’s Assembly, resigned. On June 2, local elected officials were to approve a project developed in conjunction with the administration in Chisinau, to regulate the upcoming elections.

The meeting did not have a quorum. Out of 33 local elected officials, only 13 showed up. They got into an argument with the acting governor Ilia Uzun.

The discussions degenerated into mutual offenses between the official and the deputy, Vladimir Cîssa.

Subsequently, the acting president of the Comrat Legislative announced his resignation. According to him, the blame for the fact that the authorities in the autonomy will not have decision-making power in the electoral sphere would fall on several local elected officials, who boycotted the meeting.
