Vadim Krasnoselski wants to ensure unlimited personal security even after he leaves office. The leader of the separatist region of the Republic of Moldova proposes a so-called law, through which he could benefit from bodyguards depending on the level of “threats and other factors”.

Krasnoselski claims that he does not know how much will be spent on such services from the region’s budget. According to him, “it is impossible to evaluate the volume of possible additional expenses” that might arise in case of adopting these changes.

Currently, former self-proclaimed leaders can be guarded by a maximum of two people, after the end of their term. The same regulations apply to the president and vice-president of the alleged supreme soviet of the region, after leaving the so-called position.

The provisions proposed by Krasnoselski also target the officials’ families, according to the correspondent of IPN from the left bank of the Dniester. According to the document, the current number of bodyguards “does not take into account the dynamic nature of threats to security” and could hinder the fulfillment of security assurance tasks.
