Russian forces are trying to counteract Ukrainian medium-range drone attacks by camouflaging military transports and installing powerful jamming systems intended to disrupt the operation of the Starlink satellite internet network, owned by Elon Musk.
The development by Kiev of medium-range drones, capable of striking targets tens of kilometers behind the front line with precision and reduced costs, many of them operated through Starlink, has significantly changed the way the war in Ukraine is conducted.
As part of a sustained campaign carried out this year, Ukraine has attacked supply lines, fuel depots, anti-aircraft defense installations, and command centers, disrupting the logistics of Russian forces and causing fuel shortages in Crimea, occupied by Russia.
However, Russia is now developing numerous methods to counter these medium-range attacks, four drone commanders and pilots told a Reuters team that visited the 422nd Unmanned Systems Regiment of Ukraine, on a mission in the Zaporizhia region, in the south of the country.
