At a military factory in Bulgaria, where various equipment was stored, a fire broke out, followed by several explosions. The blasts occurred near the village of Belita, in the municipality of Triviana in the center of the country.
Approximately 300 workers were evacuated. The incident occurred just before lunchtime, with dense smoke reported in the area and ongoing explosions heard. Local authorities have announced that none of the employees were injured, and those inside were evacuated.
Residents of nearby villages were urged to stay indoors due to the smoke, reports news.ro. Mobile air quality monitoring stations have been dispatched to the area.
The Prime Minister and the Minister of Internal Affairs in Sofia have been informed about the events. Investigators are set to determine how the incident occurred.
Preliminarily, it would rather seem to be an accident, not an act of sabotage. A tanker truck that was transporting fuel was filling up the tanks, and during the process, sparks appeared. As a result, the fire and explosions occurred.
